Max P.
Mathematics Tutor
Hi, I’m Max — a Mathematics tutor working with students aged 10–18. I graduated with a First Class degree in Electronics and Computer Science (BEng) from the University of Edinburgh in 2025.
I’ve been tutoring Maths for a number of years and have found a real passion for teaching. In my experience, the most important part of Maths tutoring is building confidence. There’s a lot of pressure on students to perform well in Maths, and when they struggle, it’s easy for them to start believing they’re simply “not good at it.” I try to shift that mindset — helping students see Maths as a fascinating puzzle rather than a hurdle, and giving them the tools to tackle it with curiosity and confidence. My strength as a tutor lies in being a calm, friendly mentor — someone who guides rather than instructs. I aim to create a space where students feel supported, engaged, and genuinely motivated to improve.
This ties in closely with my own interests in computer science. Outside of tutoring, I’m usually developing educational video games that aim to teach people about complex ideas or meaningful stories in accessible ways. And, beyond tutoring and game development, I enjoy tennis, football (soccer for you Americans!), hiking, and swimming.
I look forward to getting started helping your child with Maths!
